To our members:
Governor Snyder has assembled a task force to address what is referred to as “Responsible Retirement Reform Benefits.” The task force will be comprised of various state and local officials, the private sector and employee representatives.
The POLC will have a voice through our alliance with the Michigan Association of Police Organizations (MAPO).
MAPO President Michael Sauger will be our spokesperson on the task force. The POLC along with the other members of MAPO representing over 14,000 law enforcement and corrections officers are working diligently to represent not only the MAPO membership, but the members of the POLC. We meet collectively, almost daily, to receive updates and strategize our positions.
As information becomes available for release, we will keep you updated. Your opposition to sweeping changes in benefits will be made known loud and clear to the task force.
There is not a one size fits all solution to this issue. We must continue the fight to save the benefits that we have worked our entire careers to earn. With our alliances with MAPO and the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), we are working on your behalf at both the state and federal levels.
