Apply today for Bulletproof Vest Partnership grants, COVID-19 related funding

Posted by: jgomori Posted date: April 28, 2020

Applications are now being accepted for the Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program.

NAPO was instrumental in establishing the Bulletproof Partnership (BVP) Grant Program under the Department of Justice (DOJ) in 1998 to help fund state and local law enforcement efforts to purchase bullet resistant vests for their officers. Last year, through NAPO’s efforts, the program was permanently reauthorized at $30 million a year.

Applications are due by June 8, 2020.

The BJA is also continuing to accept applications for the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Fund, for which NAPO helped secure $850 million. Funding is still available to help states and localities purchase PPE for their officers and pay for COVID-19 related overtime, paid administrative leave, and hazard pay. NAPO is encouraging members to urge their state or local government to apply for these funds if they have not already.
