Gov. Whitmer extends Stay-at-Home order until June 12, State of Emergency until June 19

Posted by: jgomori Posted date: May 26, 2020

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer extended the Stay-at-Home Executive Order until June 12 after announcing the re-opening of non-essential retail, non-emergency medical, dental and veterinary services, and allowing group gatherings up to 10 with social distancing.

While non-essential retailers may open by appointment for up to 10 customers at a time beginning May 26, the State of Emergency was extended until June 19.

The State of Emergency gives Whitmer the authority to issue Executive Orders related to COVID-19, including the Stay-at-Home order. Whitmer’s authority to extend the State of Emergency without consent of the state legislature was upheld by Judge Cynthia Stephens on May 21, 2020.

Among the latest Executive Orders Whitmer issued is Executive Order 101 extending the expiration date for watercraft registration set to expire between Feb. 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020 until July 31, 2020.
