URGENT UPDATE – DEC 2nd

Yesterday while the POLC Leadership was attending the funeral of one of our own fellow officers, the Local Government Committee in the House of Representatives held a hearing on House Bill 6074 and the corresponding package of bills.   Despite reports, the committee did take testimony on the package of bills.

MAPO President Mike Sauger (Warren POA), MAPO Vice President Nate Johnson (MSPTA), along with Lobbyists from Karoub Associates were present during the hearings and filed cards opposing this legislation.

As of today, the bills remain with the committee and they are likely to hold another hearing tentatively scheduled for Tuesday.  The POLC and MAPO will be present when this occurs and if needed, to provide additional testimony.

If the committee votes the bills out favorably, they will head to the House Floor for a vote of the entire House of Representatives.  If that is successful, the bills move to the Senate for a hearing and further discussions.  The POLC and MAPO will continue to monitor the progress and keep you informed.   Check back soon for a complete analysis of the bills and how they affect the POLC Membership.
