MAPO supports Governor’s plan to invest $32 million in fighting crime

Posted by: jgomori Posted date: October 21, 2021

Michigan Association of Police Organizations (MAPO) President and POLC Director Rob Figurski is quoted in Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s press release about her proposal to invest $32 million to ensure Michigan Law Enforcement Officers have the training and resources needed to effectively fight crime.

“This represents the first of many necessary steps designed to give communities and law enforcement the resources they need to provide Michiganders the safety they deserve,” Figurski said.

The proposal is part of a $75 million MI Safe Communities plan announced in July, which would use American Rescue Plan federal funding to reduce crime and keep residents safe by addressing the court backlog, expanding law enforcement resources, and making investments in jobs programs, counseling and education.
