Retirement Reform Update

Posted by: POLC Staff Posted date: November 9, 2017

Despite a commitment from House Republicans to negotiate over OPEB (Other Post Employment Benefits), it appears likely that an OPEB “reform” bill will be introduced on Nov. 28th, the first day of session after the Deer Season/Thanksgiving break.  As you all are aware, our position has been to take the Task Force report and make it law.  Apparently, this legislation will go beyond the Task Force report.

A collective effort is underway to defend this pending legislation and at some point, we may need help from our membership.   We encourage all of our members, POLC and GELC, to visit our lobbyist website at www.mapo411.com and register an account.  Be sure to select POLC or GELC as your group.  You can then download a free mobile app available on iTunes and Google Play.   We will be sending updates via email, text and mobile app alerts as this legislation moves forward.

Until then, stay tuned to the POLC for more details.
