Posted by: jgomori Posted date: May 23, 2019

Detroit Police Officer Benjamin Atkinson was awarded the Congressional Badge of Bravery for risking his life to save his partner.

Officer Atkinson was shot three times March 15, 2017 while his partner was on the ground bleeding and paralyzed.

The officers were shot while attempting to stop Raymund Durham, the man who was charged with the murder of Wayne State University Police Officer Collin Rose. Durham was later found mentally incompetent to stand trial.
